Since 2012, Music Heals has raised awareness and funds to increase access to music therapy for vulnerable Canadians. Music Heals supports a wide range of music therapy services in communities in BC and across Canada. We increase access to music therapy for patients in children’s hospitals, seniors centres, palliative care, AIDS & HIV programs, at-risk youth, rehabilitation, and bereavement support. To date Music Heals has funded over 32,000 music therapy sessions for Canadians in need.

We are a group of music enthusiasts and music lovers who have come together to help raise awareness of the healing powers of music. Music Heals Charitable Foundation supports a wide range of music therapy services to communities in BC and across Canada. We increase access to music therapy for patients in children’s hospitals, senior’s centres, palliative care, AIDS & HIV programs, at-risk youth, habilitation, and bereavement support. We partner with each program we fund to tell real stories of impact and sustain music therapy programming.

Our wood is sustainably harvested from high elevation Englemann Spruce forests in North-Eastern British Columbia. Standing dead trees are often selected for better ageing and stability. Stock includes wood from over 400 different logs, providing a broad selection of widths and types of grain, colour, stiffness, hardness, etc.

From a very young age, I have been fascinated with the notion of working with wood and creating something worthwhile in the process, but only in the last 10 years or so, have I been blessed with a workshop that made it possible.

I started off with virtually no experience, building guitar stands for my own instruments, and was initially very surprised when an accomplished luthier looked at my creations and said “… these are nice!”. That comment provided me with the inspiration to keep going.

Being in my workshop is a bit like meditating, with something to show for it at the end. I cast my creations into the stream of life and hope that they will wash up in an appreciative home.
